Diet soda is bad for you period.
Studies have shown that people who diet and begin using artificial sweeteners actually end up gaining more weight at the end.
Artificial sweeteners trick the body into believing that sugar is coming in and the body mobilizes all it’s systems – the pancreas secrets insulin to bring the blood sugar down – the brain increases it’s serotonin levels, our feel good chemicals, but at the end the body is left unsatisfied because no real sugar came in.
As a result, the body will crave carbohydrates so the next time you feel hungry you will seek out carbs. If you’re dieting you might be really disciplined and deny it carbohydrates but this does not work in the long run.
In the UK artificial sweeteners including stevia, and colors are being banned from the food supply because they are bad news..
I am not saying sugar is good – NOT at all. Your best bet is to reduce the amount of sugar that you consume. Sugar comes in over 52 names. Start reading labels 4 grams of sugar is equal to 1 teaspoon!
The body gets used to getting sweet stuff, it is a terrible addiction for it craves it so so much but there are ways to control your sugar intake and that should be the focus NOT replacing it with artificial sweeteners.
Instead of dieting I recommend you change your food mix. The difference – no restrictions on the amount you eat or when you eat as long as it’s all good food – this will help heal your gut. Once your gut begins to heal your body you will be more in control of those crazy, irresistible cravings. Then you can begin to control the quantity of food you eat.
Also take a good probiotic, vitamin C (it helps digest) a multivitamin and magnesium. Just take these supplements at the beginning. Once you feel in control stop taking them and only add probiotics when needed like when you’re traveling or after a round of antibiotics.
